Challenge
• Support the entry into service of the first section of Line 15
• Connect travelers from the southern suburbs of Paris and promote intermodal transportation and connections across the entire Île-de-France network
• Coordinate all operational and maintenance activities
Solution
Île-de-France Mobilités has awarded the contract to operate and maintain the southern section of Line 15 of the Grand Paris Express to the international consortium ORA, consisting of RATP Dev (majority shareholder), Alstom, and ComfortDelGro.
This new automated metro line, scheduled to enter service in 2026, will stretch across 33 kilometers (20.5 miles), connecting 22 municipalities and stopping at 16 stations in the Île-de-France (Greater Paris) region. The contract—for a duration of 6 years and extendable up to 9 years—includes the operation of the automated metro line, the stations, the centralized control center, as well as the maintenance and upkeep of the rolling stock. The ORA consortium will contribute its expertise to make the Grand Paris Express a global benchmark for automated metro systems.
A linchpin of the Grand Paris Express public transit network, Line 15 will form a 75 km (47-mile) ring around Paris upon its completion in 2031, connecting 45 municipalities and transporting 1.5 million passengers on a daily basis. As a crown jewel of the Grand Paris Express network due to the scale of its route and the expected passenger numbers, it will improve access to employment, universities, and major sports and cultural venues in Île-de-France.
The ORA consortium will assist the entry into service of the first section, Line 15 South. That section will run from Pont de Sèvres to Noisy-Champs in about thirty minutes; paving the way for intermodal transportation options and interconnections with other lines.
