Solution
SBS Transit, in partnership with RATP Dev, has won the contract to operate and maintain the Jurong Region Line (JRL), the seventh metro line in Singapore. This partnership, called Singapore One Rail (SOR), combines over 20 years of operational excellence from SBS Transit with RATP Group’s 120 years of global experience in automated metro systems in cities such as Paris, Sydney, Doha, and Riyadh.
The JRL will feature 24 stations connecting key hubs in western Singapore, with a phased rollout in three stages. The first stage, scheduled for 2027, will see the opening of 10 new stations. In 2028, 7 additional stations will open, followed by the final 7 stations in 2029.
The operating license has been awarded for a duration of nine years, with an option for a two-year extension. RATP Dev will become the first foreign operator to jointly run a local metro line in Singapore, contributing to the city-state’s urban rail excellence.
Singapore One Rail will also establish an SOR innovation lab dedicated to enhancing the customer experience by encouraging travelers to co-create innovative technologies and solutions for better public transport. This lab will allow passengers to participate in testing and improving new solutions.
The goal is to generate fresh and creative ideas to address public transport challenges.
