Solution

A subsidiary 51% owned by RATP Dev and 49% by Transports Publics Genevois, Transports Publics de l'Agglomération d'Annemasse (TP2A), employing 120 people and operating the urban transport network of the Annemasse Metropolitan Area (twelve municipalities in Haute-Savoie), as well as cross-border links with Geneva.

TAC Mobilités (Transports Annemassiens Collectifs) is a multimodal public transit network that has been operated by the RATP group since 2002. Today, it offers a wide range of services:

  • Seven bus routes, including the "TANGO" high-service-level bus, which provides a 15-minute link between the Altéa and Jean Monnet park-and-ride facilities. That service also runs on Sundays and national holidays
  • A bookable transport on demand service

  • An on-demand transportation service that allows passengers to get to areas not served by the regular routes of the TAC network

  • An on-demand transportation service for people with reduced mobility who cannot use the regular routes of the network to get around in the greater urban area

  • VéloTAC rental service at Point.Vélo located at Maison de la Mobilité et du Tourisme. By 2025, a fleet of 250 vehicles will be available.

  • Three secure bicycle parks, accessible 24 hours a day, with 280 spaces

  • Two park-and-ride facilities (P+R) located at either terminus of the TANGO high-service-level bus route

Since its first public service contract in 2002, TP2A has expanded bus hours of operation from 5:00 am to 10:00 pm. It has also opened Tango 1 and 2, two additional, high-frequency routes to and from Switzerland.

In 2015, the contract was renewed for the second time. Future plans include the development of a comprehensive mobility offer and a multimodal system for Greater Geneva, an area spanning parts of France, Geneva, and the Swiss canton of Vaud.

A new goal was set on December 15th, 2019!

Three major projects were launched:

  • Tango 1 and 2 BHLS lines were transformed into a single BNLS Tango line with a bus every ten minutes at peak times. The new line connects the two park-and-ride car parks for the conurbation

  • Extension of tram line 17 from Geneva to Annemasse

  • Creation of the Léman Express, a cross-border regional express rail service connecting the two cities in 20 minutes.

Services have been boosted, with the launch of a commercial drive comprising a multimode mobility center in December 2018. The first MaaS application from RATP Dev was launched in January 2019. It is regularly enhanced with new functions.

One year later TAC launched its ticketing solution using the Oùra new generation card (the regional card for Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes).

2023: after 20 years of partnership, a new contract has been agreed for the third time with many more projects on the horizon.
