Paris, 12 June 2025 – CDPQ Infra has selected RATP Dev Canada as the early operator for the TramCité project in Quebec City. RATP Dev Canada will provide technical assistance to CDPQ Infra and the future designated operator, the Réseau de Transport de la Capitale (RTC), in order to anticipate and resolve issues related to the operation and maintenance of the future tram network.
RATP Dev Canada’s mandate includes the participation in the co-development of the final design solution with the selected consortia, managing interfaces, carrying out the project, and supporting the RTC in its future role as operator.
TramCité is a major greenfield tram network infrastructure project with 19 km of rails, including 2 km in tunnels, 29 stations (including five multimodal hubs and two underground stations), a storage center and a centralized command post. It is scheduled to be commissioned in 2033.
The rolling stock will consist of low-floor trains, 35 to 40 meters long and powered by batteries and overhead contact lines. The network aims to have a capacity of 75,000 daily trips by 2041.
Cyril Aubin, RATP Dev Regional CEO, North America and United Kingdom: "We are delighted to contribute the experience and expertise acquired in the operation of some forty tramway networks around the world to this exciting project offering a backbone of mobility in the Quebec City region and significant time savings for public transit users."
