The RATP Group Foundation and RATP Dev Mobility Cairo (a subsidiary of RATP Dev) participated in the launch of the “Bridges of Opportunities” project, a multi-stakeholder initiative aimed at strengthening social inclusion for vulnerable youth in Cairo. This project, led by Samusocial International (Egypt) and supported by the “Agence Française de Developpement” (AFD) and Egyptian organizations - the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development, Ora Developers, and AlexBank - demonstrates the commitment of the Foundation and RATP Group teams to serving the public interest in local communities.
“Bridges of Opportunities” is a program designed to empower approximately 450 children and youth in street situations through a holistic approach that combines sports, education, arts, and vocational training. This is achieved through coordinated efforts with NGOs, educational institutions, and local government centers.
The project was officially launched on Sunday, November 17, under the patronage of the French Ambassador to Egypt, H.E. Mr. Éric Chevallier, with the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) among all partners. This MoU aims to catalyze new partnerships and mobilize a robust network of public and private stakeholders committed to a shared social impact mission, each leveraging their unique resources to achieve this common goal.
The RATP Group Foundation contributes to this initiative by providing financial support for the socio-professional integration of 120 young people aged 15 to 24 in severe exclusion, housed in the 7 partner centers in Cairo. This support includes the acquisition of fundamental educational and day-to-day life skills. Depending on the specific needs of the youth, this may include providing literacy classes, English or computer courses, and working on basic skills such as personal budget management. RATP Dev Mobility Cairo offers significant extra-financial support through direct involvement of the company and its employees with the youth.
Raphaël René-Bazin, Secretary General of the RATP Group Foundation, stated: “Building on the sponsorship agreement signed in July 2024 between the RATP Group Foundation and Samusocial International, the launch of the ‘Bridges of Opportunities’ project demonstrates the partners’ commitment to being as useful as possible to the beneficiaries. The RATP Group Foundation is pleased to support this initiative hand in hand with RATP Dev Mobility Cairo, and we hope it will make a lasting difference in the lives of these young people in the Egyptian capital”.
Wadii Bouchiha, CEO of RATP Dev Mobility Cairo, added: “The local teams of RATP Dev are highly motivated to give young people the opportunity to discover our company and its various professions, allowing them to undertake internships, benefit from mentoring by our employees, and receive mobility assistance. This initiative reflects our commitment to fostering social inclusion and supporting the professional development of vulnerable youth in Cairo”.
