After a victory against Croatia on Sunday, 15 July, France’s football team became world champions and added a second star to the French jersey. Open Tour Paris is joining in on the players’ official victory parade scheduled for Monday, 16 July on the Champs-Elysées.

The players of the French national team will be appearing aboard an electric Open Tour Paris bus specially decorated for the occasion, in a parade on the Champs-Elysées Monday, 16 July. Featuring the players, the bus will take the team from Place Charles de Gaulle to Elysée Palace to greet fans and celebrate this victory.

Some Paris metro stations were also renamed to honour the French national team
RATP was also keen to show support for Les Bleus by celebrating this victory with all passengers. As of Monday morning, six Paris metro stations have been temporarily renamed in a nod to France’s world champions:

-    Avron has become ‘Nous Avron Gagné’ (a play on the station’s name and the phrase ‘We won’)
-    Charles de Gaulle-Etoile has been turned into ‘On a 2 Etoiles’ (‘We’ve got 2 stars’, a reference to France’s two World Cup wins)
-    Victor Hugo has been changed to ‘Victor Hugo Lloris’ (a nod to both the famed French author and the French national team’s goalkeeper)
-    Bercy reads ‘Bercy les Bleus’ (a play on ‘Merci les Bleus’)
-    Notre-Dame des Champs has become ‘Notre Didier Deschamps’ (in reference to the team’s coach)
-    Finally, Champs-Elysées-Clémenceau has been renamed ‘Deschamps Elysées – Clémenceau’ (also in honour of coach Didier Deschamps)

Merci Les Bleus!
