Cilia Italia Srl, a subsidiary of RATP Dev in Italy, has beenentrusted by Atac Spa to manage urban bus services in the northwest area of Rome starting April 1, 2025. This new contract, awarded for three years with the possibility of extension until the end of 2029, includes the operation of four urban lines, covering over 1 million kilometers annua lly.
Cilia Italia, in partnership with BusMiccolis, will leverage RATP Dev’s extensive experience and advanced technological solutions to enhance public transport in Rome. The initial fleet will consist of 18 buses and will increase to 23 new hybrid buses by January 2026. Atac Spa will remain responsible for tariffs, commercial aspects, and passenger relations, ensuring a seamless transition for public transport travelers.
The service will be organized from two operational bases: the Maglianella depot in the West of Rome and the Torre del Fiscale depot along the Appia/Tuscolana route. This new contract will also generate 46 new driver positions, with a strong emphasis on gender equality during the recruitment phase.

In addition to managing local public transport services and school buses for various municipalities of Rome Capital, Cilia also operates specialized transport services. These include tourist services within the Vatican Gardens and the Pontifical Villas of Castel Gandolfo with methane-powered minibuses covering nearly 45,000 kilometers annually. The company also provides transport services for Luiss University, as well as shuttle services for shopping centers and cruise shuttles.
