Operating a one-of-a-kind driverless automated metro in Riyadh

Bannière Riyad

RATP Dev is now one of the major players in the development of Riyadh's 100% automated metro network, through Capital Metro Company (CAMCO), its 80%-owned subsidiary.

Key figures about the RATP Dev network in Riyadh:

2

automated metro lines

4

minutes between two trains during rush hour

176 km

the longest driverless metro in the world

The world reference for automated metro

With the simultaneous launch of 6 fully automated metro lines totaling 176 kilometers of track in 2024, Riyadh's transport network has changed dimension to become one of the largest automated metro projects in the world. These new infrastructures, designed for a traffic of 3.6 million passengers, aim to reduce car traffic by 30%.

Responsible for the management, operation and maintenance of a third of the network (Blue and Red lines), RATP Dev is a key factor in the success of the government's "Vision 2030" strategic plan, dedicated to low-carbon urban mobility, initiated by Saudi Arabia.

RATP Dev's expertise at the heart of Saudi transport

The Group's expertise in automated networks and high-tech infrastructure enables it to ensure perfect continuity of service (high frequency of trains, regularity, etc.) and to strive for a unique passenger experience (WiFi connections, accessibility services, real-time information at each station, etc.).

The Blue and Red lines are seamlessly integrated into Riyadh's bus network, which includes 89 bus lines and 3 bus rapid transit lines, already operated by PTC, a joint venture between RATP Dev and local company SAPTCO.

Together towards exceptional expertise

In addition to operational performance, this project is part of a partnership approach and skills transfer. Several hundred Saudi employees have benefited from training programs to raise their business expertise to the highest level of technicality in the field: supervised driving in control centers, predictive maintenance of trains and signals, management of passenger flows in 40 stations, etc.

RATP Dev is thus providing sustainable support to the Saudi capital in its urban transformation, combining technical excellence, reliable services and the development of local skills.

Métier

In a short period of time, we have achieved remarkable milestones. Which is a testament to our teamwork, resilience, and professionalism. We are part of shaping the future of mobility in Riyadh. Together, we will not only maintain world-class experience but also set new standards for the industry.
