Brest : developing transport in alignment with the energy transitio

By opening two new transport arteries with tram line B and the bus rapid transit (BRT) line, RATP Dev is connecting the residents of Brest with the metropolitan area’s main activity hubs, while helping them save precious time.

Towards a more connected and efficient transport network
With more than 10 kilometers of additional track and 24 new stations, the two expansions of the Brest network will serve several strategic locations (rail station, universities and schools, hospitals, etc.) and connect the outlying districts to the city center.
Consisting of a tram line (line B) and a BRT bus line (line D), this infrastructure is designed to transport 3.5 million passengers per year. The lines complement other recent developments (tram line A in 2012, an urban cable car in 2026) that strengthen the region's transport network. RATP Dev, which has been operating the Bibus network since 2019 through its subsidiary RD Brest, is one of the major players in this transformation of mobility undertaken by Brest Métropole

Innovating to enrich the passenger experience
In five years, Bibus has expanded its entire offering to improve its multimodal services and passenger experience: new lines, long-term electric bike rentals, 8 on-demand transport lines, a MaaS mobile app that simplifies ticket purchases, an Open Payment service for purchasing and validating tickets by credit card and more. With the support of its laboratory Ker'Lab, RD Brest is increasing its capacity for innovation. Proof of this highly active R&D policy can be seen in an AI experiment conducted in 2024 to improve passenger information at stations: on interactive screens, two virtual avatars answered questions asked by users in everyday language.
Modernization also involves decarbonization. The fleet of 180 buses is gradually switching to electric and biogas. The goal is to reduce CO₂ emissions by 70% by 2030.
