Actively engage in decarbonization
Present in Florence since 2007, RATP Dev has extended its activities to the whole of Tuscany since 2021 through its subsidiary Autolinee Toscane S.p.A. The urban and suburban bus network now covers an area as large as Belgium and the subsidiary has become one of the largest private employers in the region with more than 5,000 employees.
As the sole manager of the network (more than 2,900 buses for around 1,000 lines and 2 funicular lines), Autolinee Tuscany is implementing a strategy linking decarbonisation to the improvement of the passenger experience. To this end, €700 million in investments have been committed since 2021 and until 2032, allocated to:
- vehicle electrification,
- the modernisation of infrastructure including depots,
- network security,
- the deployment of new customer services.

Among the new services offered: the dematerialisation of subscriptions, the contactless credit card payment system "Tip Tap" (6,000 active validators on the buses) and the launch of the mobile application "at bus" are a great success with users. Already more than 1.3 million downloads of the app that allows you to get information, prepare your journeys and buy tickets.
In three years, these services have not only saved 6 million sheets of paper and more than 2 million plastic cards, but also simplified the use and accessibility of transport for passengers.
Another initiative in Florence is the installation of new-generation passenger information screens. Using low-consumption electronic ink, they operate autonomously thanks to batteries with a lifespan of more than three years. In 2024, the traveller satisfaction rate was 88.24%.
