Lorient: a zero-carbon network by 2031

RATP Dev, through its subsidiary RD Lorient Agglomération, manages a decarbonized multimodal network that serves the Lorient urban area. Meeting this challenge connects the residents of 25 towns across a complex region.

An integrated multimodal network to connect land and sea
For Lorient Agglomération, RATP Dev operates IziLo Mobilités, a vast multimodal network connecting 25 municipalities and over 200,000 residents, while overcoming the challenges of a region marked by a strong maritime influence. The harbor presents a unique geographic obstacle, whose constraints were overcome with five maritime shuttle lines. This land-sea interconnection simplifies access to downtown Lorient, streamlines travel between towns and represents a major tourism asset for the metropolitan area.

Diversified services responding to the needs of residents
To meet all the needs of residents, RATP Dev operates – in addition to 40 bus lines of the IziLo network – 97 school bus services, 5 high-frequency lines (the busiest lines), an On-Demand Transport service, including one intended specifically for the island of Groix, a transport service for passengers with reduced mobility (PMR), a carpooling service and a bike service (short, medium and long term bike rentals and parking management).

Supporting the energy transition
In alignment with the strategic objectives of Lorient Agglomération, RATP Dev actively supports the energy transition for its entire bus and boat fleet. The goal of achieving total decarbonization by 2031 represents a strong commitment to local sustainable development. The network will soon have 76 renewable natural gas (RNG) buses, as well as 19 hydrogen buses, two hydrogen boats and one electric boat.

A strong presence in the region and local life
RATP Dev is a close partner of the Festival Interceltique de Lorient, for which an exceptional infrastructure is organized and offered to welcome during all 10 days of the festival that attracts more than 900,000 visitors every year.

Since 2028, we have been supporting Lorient Agglomération in implementing its regional development plan through a shared commitment to improving transportation and intermodal connectivity, encouraging changes in user behavior, and contributing to the fight against climate change. This shared priority is for the benefit of future generations.
