Ensuring high performance right from the design phase

At RATP Dev, we have seen that in each public transit project, having the operator involved right from the initial phases ultimately proves a decisive factor in achieving a successful outcome. By getting involved upstream, we contribute to designing infrastructure that is high performance, integrated, and sustainable, perfectly in line with the needs of the location and users.
Areas of expertise:
High performance & service quality
We guarantee seamless operation right from entry into service, and we plan ahead for evolving needs by laying out a strategy adapted to future passenger numbers and a coherent maintenance policy.
Cost control
We integrate cost optimization right from the design phase. We find the best compromises throughout the life cycle of the system, and we are careful to remain independent of any supplier.
Project management
We ensure the successful outcome of projects by combining a holistic vision, precise guarantees with respect to suppliers, and effective planning of actions.
Active participation in the design
Getting the operator involved upstream of a project is a way to ensure success and the high performance of a network. Our thorough and proactive approach integrates changes in passenger numbers, operational requirements, and sustainably secures the service quality. With their areas of expertise, RATP Dev’s teams identify potential sticking points to plan ahead for solutions. Infrastructure capacity, flow management, maintenance program, availability of critical equipment, obsolescence management… Taking all these factors into account during the design phase mitigates the risk of lengthy and costly arbitration.

Optimizing the whole life cycle
RATP Dev plays a central role in planning between the stakeholders involved at the request of its clients. We know which skills to bring to bear at which time and in which way. Whether it is a question of defining the supplier guarantees, making the schedule reliable, or securing technical choices, we optimize the design to reduce operating and maintenance costs throughout the life cycle.

An overall vision for sustainable networks
Our involvement upstream ensures seamless operation downstream. Thanks to this approach, each project gets the benefit of a holistic vision that combines operational efficiency, technical resilience, the passenger experience, and caring for the environment. All in the service of networks that are reliable, scalable, and sustainable.

RATP Dev, upstream operator for the automated metro in Belgrade
RATP is assisting the Belgrade Secretariat of Public Transit and BMV (Beogradski Metro i Voz) as an upstream operator for the three lines of its upcoming metro. The aim of this assistance is to optimize operation, maintenance, safety, the passenger experience, and to optimize the life cycle.
The automated metro project in Belgrade is the biggest and most important infrastructure project to date for the Republic of Serbia. It includes a line that stretches across 21.8 km and 21 stations, planned for 2028. Then a second line covering 24.2 km and 26 stations planned for 2030. And a third that will run 23 km and serve 22 stations.
On the strength of its worldwide expertise in automated metro trains and high-capacity public transit networks, RATP Dev is actively contributing to the implementation of a strategic project that will transform mobility in the Serbian capital.
