RATP Dev keeps Sydney and Melbourne moving

In Australia, we are supporting two major projects that are reshaping urban mobility. In Sydney, we will operate the future automated metro line connecting Western Sydney International Airport. In Melbourne, we have been awarded the contract to operate the Suburban Rail Loop East, an integrated transport, urban planning, and housing project. These two flagship projects showcase our expertise in automated metro systems, reinforce our commitment to sustainable mobility, and highlight our ambition to continue expanding in our core expertise of urban rail.

We are proud to be part of transforming mobility in Western Sydney.

In Sydney, we will operate and maintain the Sydney Metro – Western Sydney Airport line, a 23 km automated metro with six stations, for 15 years as part of the Parklife Metro consortium. This project will connect the international airport to employment hubs in western Sydney as part of the country's largest public transport program.

In Melbourne, we have been awarded for the Linewide package for the Suburban Rail Loop East as part of the TransitLinX consortium. This project includes 26 km of twin tunnels and six new underground stations, connecting residential areas with key economic, academic, and healthcare hubs. We commenced work in 2025 as an operator non-owner participant within the alliance framework, in a joint venture with John Holland, to actively contribute to the design and integration of the system. From 2035, we will operate and maintain Victoria's first driverless metro system under a 15-year franchise agreement.

We are delighted to contribute to the development of Australia’s public trains and to leverage RATP Group’s expertise un complex urban rail.
