In April 2009, the Chinese affiliate of VTRA Asia has agreed to take over
the responsibility for the operation and management of Hong Kong Tramways, a new 50-50 partnership with Wharf Transport Investments Limited.

Hong Kong Tramways owns and operates a fleet of 163 tramcars and carries an average of close to 240,000 passengers every day.
It is one of the oldest fleet of double-deck tramcars still in operation.

Created in 1904, Hong Kong Tramways has remained popular as a niche mode of transport in Hong Kong and is a unique piece of cultural heritage to Hong Kong people and tourists.


Veolia Transport - Ratp Asia plans to improve the system and enhance service particularly in areas of customer service, safety, maintenance and training.
